They also delay its onset by several years.

Still, heart health isn’t the only reason for this, and scientists continue to search for other correlations.

Essential Oils that Help with Symptoms

Until a cure is developed – or prevention becomes a guarantee – many people remain affected and their caregivers search for ways to reduce symptoms. One way is through the use of essential oils. Rosemary: offers relief from depression and may improve cognitive function.

Bergamot: quiets stress, reduces agitation, and helps with insomnia.

Lemon Balm: improves memory, aids digestion, and relaxes nerves. It may also be the most effective; it’s among the frequently studied oils.

Ylang Ylang: promotes a good night’s sleep, eases restlessness, and uplifts mood.

Ginger: eliminates nausea, treats appetite loss, and relieves constipation.

There are a variety of ways to use essential oils. They’re often inhaled as a mist or applied directly to skin. It’s possible to add them to food and teas, as well, as long as they remain under a certain concentration level.
